In Europe and especially in Germany, banks are greatly interested in financing wind power projects. They are considered under the current conditions to be a very solid investment. It is possible to obtain a debt portion of 80% and more with proper planning and state-of-the-art contracts.
Outside Europe the financing requires a more sophisticated approach. In this case additional risks such as foreign exchange, political stability etc. have to be addressed and mitigated. A careful structuring, commercially as well as legally together with respective additional margins, however, enables the Group to close deals also under more difficult conditions, as the recent project finance deals in China and in Taiwan have proven.
